RNA FAQ DOWNLOAD THE COMPLETE BROCHURE Q: WHAT IS RNA? A: RNA is a non-profit voluntary community organization with a board and five standing committees composed of Riverwest residents. Providing a voice for the residents of Riverwest with elected officials, business people and other civic leaders. Q: What is RNA Doing for Riverwest? A: Providing a way for residents to learn about and participate in decision-making processes that affect the community. Giving a direct voice to residents with elected officials at meetings. Monthly RNA meetings are frequently attended by Alderpersons and County Supervisors. City Departments are usually represented when issues concerning their work are on the meeting agenda. Occasionally RNA issues letters of support or position papers. Providing a liaison to District 5 police who regularly attends the monthly district crime analysis meetings and reports back at RNA meetings. Sponsoring and organizing the Riverwest Walkers. Anyone can join for walks in the neighborhood each week to meet neighbors, deter crime, and to identify areas with criminal activity or property in disrepair. Providing a website (currently in progress) and email newsletter with free, resident-submitted community events calendar and news. Q: How is RNA Organized? A: Organizationally, the work of the RNA is directed by a board that is elected at the end of each year. The RNA board is composed of a chair, a co-chair, a treasurer, a secretary, and members-atlarge. Board meetings are held at least six times per year, and monthly neighborhood meetings are usually conducted on the second Tuesday of each month. RNA currently has six standing committees: Guardians of Green Space, Development, Fundraising, Administration, Outreach, and Safety. Committee membership is open to anyone who volunteers for service on a committee. Q: Who Can Be an RNA Member? A: Anyone may attend the monthly RNA meetings, but only constituent members may vote and hold office. Constituent members are those residing in Riverwest (west and north of the river, east of Holton, south of Capitol). Residents as far west as Richards Street who associate themselves with Riverwest will be allowed full membership in RNA. There are no membership fees or dues.
